Looking to move overseas? WridgWays is a trusted name in the removals industry and can help to make your international move to New Zealand a success.

Considerations

When you move we generally use the volume of goods you have to work out the cost. In addition, we also consider other factors such as pick up (origin) point and delivery (destination) points, before we factor in any other moving services you require, like insurance, storage, transportation of pets or vehicles.

Here is a breakdown of the variables to make it easy for you to work out the costs of moving from Australia to New Zealand.

Overseas Removalist

Cost: $7,000-$7,500

The move itself is the biggest cost. For a 3 bedroom home ex Sydney to Auckland (which equates to approximately a 20' container) the average cost is approximately $7,000-$7,500. This will include pick up and delivery from door-to-door.

Flights

Cost: $300-$4,000

Costs for flights from Sydney to Auckland one-way can start from as little as $300. Variables like the time of year, time of week, whether you travel economy or business class will determine the cost of flights.

If you are travelling at more popular times of the year you can look to pay from $600 one-way. For a family of four it can cost anywhere between $1200 to $4000. You are best to start looking early to get the best cost and time.

Insurance

Cost: $500-$2,000

Don't risk your belongings during your move, get our moving insurance. As much as we take care to prepare your goods for transit and handle them correctly, there is always a risk during an international move that damage or loss may occur outside of our control.

We have options to cover transit or transit and storage at a competitive rate.

Utilities

Cost: $150-$500 per month

Cost of living in a new country can often be a surprise, and not always a good one. Don't leave it to chance, do your research prior to moving.

If you are moving to an 85m2 apartment, expect to pay between $120-$300 (NZD) monthly for the basics (electricity, water, heating and cooling). For Internet you will be looking at paying between $70-$100 (NZD).  For more information visit a website like Numbeo to work out cost of living expenses.

Storage

Cost: $250-$450 per month

When you move, sometimes things don't quite line up and you may need to store some of your belongings for the short-term. Luckily WridgWays can look after this for you. For an average family home the cost for storage is approximately $250-$400 to secure your belongings. Add insurance for total peace of mind.

Boxes and packaging

Cost: Between $50-200

If you are packing yourself you will need to consider boxes and packing materials (packing tape, bubble wrap etc.). Doing it properly will ensure your belongings aren't damaged during your move.

Boxes cost between $5-$20, depending on the size and quantity you will need. We estimate that you will be spending between $50 to $200 on boxes for a 3 bedroom home move, depending on the amount of possessions you have.

Note: Costs are only approximate and you will need to get an international removals quote for an accurate cost.
