We've done the hard work so you can understand the costs associated with moving from New Zealand to Australia.

Overseas Removalist

Cost: $7,000-$7,500

Moving overseas and hiring a removalist company is your biggest moving cost. The average cost to move a 3 bedroom home ex Auckland to Sydney (this equates to approximately a 20' container) is $7000-$7500. This includes door-to-door uplift and delivery.

Flights

Cost: $300-$4,000

Costs for flights from Auckland to Sydney one-way can start from as little as $300. You will need to take other factors into account when booking as time of year, time of week, whether you travel in economy or business class can all determine the cost of your flight.

If you are travelling during peak times you can look to pay from $600 one-way. If you are moving a family of four it can cost anywhere between $1200 to $4000.

It pays to start to investigate this early and always check that your passports are valid.

Insurance

Cost: $500-$2,000

During an international move there is a chance of your belongings being damaged or lost. Even with the most careful packing and handling there are factors outside our control during an international move.

We offer moving insurance for transit cover, or transit and storage cover. For peace of mind during your international relocation take our insurance.

Utilities

Cost: $180-$500 per month

If you are moving to Australia you will need to make sure that you have an understanding of the cost of living. This includes the cost of every day utilities. Websites like Numbeo provide  an average cost for everyday expenses.

A 85m2 apartment will cost you between $125 and $400 monthly for utilities like electricity, gas, heating, cooling and water. Things like internet expect to pay between $60 to $100 per month.

WriddgWays offers a utility connection service so that when you move into a new home, the lights will be on and the water will be running. All you need to do is provide us a few details and we can get the process started.

Storage

Cost: $250-$450 per month

When you move to a new country you may not have the space you anticipated or maybe your move in date doesn't quite line up with your arrival. You don't need to worry. WridgWays have storage facilities Australia-wide. If you require storage average costs are usually between $250-$450 per month depending on the amount of goods you have. Also, if you add insurance it takes the cost up but you will have total peace of mind.

Boxes and packaging

Cost: Between $50-$200

If you are packing your own possessions, you will need the right boxes and materials to get the job done right. Make sure that if you are packing your own belongings it is done right to minimise damage during your move.

Boxes cost between $5-$20 each depending on the style and size. We estimate that you will spend $50-$200 on boxes for an average 3 bedroom home. You will also need to add any additional costs for packing materials like bubble wrap and packing tape.

Note: Costs are approximate and you will need to obtain a quote for an accurate price.
