The largest city in the Bay of Plenty region, Tauranga is a beautiful place to live, where much of your life will be on or near the water.

Mount Maunganui is a popular beachside suburb of Tauranga, famous its 'Main Beach' and the mount, Mauao, an extinct volcanic cone at the end of the peninsula. The summit walk is popular and provides stunning views of the coastline.

It is one of the most popular locations to live in the Tauranga region, and this is reflected in the price for properties here. In 2019 a 3 bedroom home will set you back approximately $520 per week, while a 2 bedroom home averages $435 per week. Apartment living is a popular choice in this suburb, with many in close proximity to the beach. The suburb is well connected, has good amenities and plenty of dining options. For those looking for a life next to the water - this is it!


Beachside living

Papamoa or Papamoa Beach is located approximately 11 km from Tauranga city centre. It is the largest residential suburb in Tauranga and a popular choice to live, given its proximity to the coast. Given its location, expect to pay top dollar for a rental or home in the area.  

It has amenities to meet all your needs, from shopping, local schools, regional parks and walking trails. to a flourishing hospitality scene. To top it all off, you have the stunning Papamoa Beach on your doorstep. It will cost you more in rent the closer you are to the beach, so maybe check out your options a few streets back.


Family lifestyle by the water

Otūmoetai is a great suburb for families. You'll be able to find affordable 3-4 bedroom houses, on large blocks, with water views to Mount Maunagnui.

In a relatively central location, you will find you are only a 5 minute drive to the city or 10 minutes to Mount Maunganui. Schools nearby cater for K-13 and great amenities, Otūmoetai is a great option if you are looking for life on the water at an affordable price.

Gate Pā is a great choice for those that have a budget to stick to and have been priced out of areas such as Mount Maunganui or Papamoa. You can get yourself a property with water views of Tauranga Harbour. With a shopping centre and good connections into the city, it is a good option for first home buyers and those looking for a convenient lifestyle.
