Learn about Rockhampton

Rockhampton is generally warm and sunny most days of the year. During the holiday months, temperatures hang around 30°C to 32°C, and in the winter months, the temperature ranges between 23°C and 25°C and occasionally drops to 11°C. Rockhampton enjoys a pleasant climate year round, which is perfect for those who love the outdoors.

Rockhampton’s nature is impressive and immersive, with national parks, botanic gardens, caves, mountains and walks waiting to be explored. Getting out and about on the weekends is easy and enjoyable, especially with the warm weather.

Being a smaller town in Queensland, Rockhampton enjoys a slower pace of life, with more time to spend with friends and family. There is less stress and pressure to ‘keep up with the Joneses’ and the ambience is neighbourly and peaceful. Roads are wide, and there is minimal traffic, so travelling around locally is easy, and everything you need is typically nearby.

Things to do

There are many activities to partake in at sunny Rockhampton, many of which are largely nature based. Capricorn Caves offer an exciting underground encounter with walls made of limestone, and occasionally, you can view bats. The caves also have abseiling, rock climbing and fossicking courses available. The Rockhampton Botanical Gardens are a heritage-listed site and provide an alluring green experience over 33 hectares of land, and there is much more to explore in the town.
