Except for Business migrants, applicants must generally be under 50 years of age in occupations included on the Gazetted List of Skilled Occupations and provide evidence of English language competency.
The Skilled and Economic Migration Program includes the following visa categories:
Baseline criteria include obtaining a positive skill assessment in a gazetted occupation, be under age 50 at time of application, achieve a minimum score of 60 points under the points test, English language competency and receive an invitation to submit an application from the Department of Immigration and Border Protection under the Skill Select system.
